ATTRACTIONS OF THE REGION

Notre Tranquillité lies on the edge of the pretty village of Rouvrou overlooked by rolling hills. There is fishing locally and some excellent walks and rock climbing around the village and surrounding countryside. Nearby is the popular town of Pont d'Ouilly with river walks, water sports, canoeing and kayaking and several restaurants.

The ever-changing countryside of Normandy makes it a pleasure to drive around with so many interesting and attractive villages. There are markets on most days: St Pierre sur Dives has a brilliant Monday morning market with livestock, fresh locally grown produce and local cheeses. Falaise is bustling on a Saturday with its combination of market, small shops and café bars, cobblestone streets and interesting buildings and is home to the chateau of William the Conqueror. The Thursday market held at Condé sur Noireau is reputed one of the best in the area, again with locally grown produce and with the added attraction of sitting outside one of the pavement cafés 'people watching' or just soaking up the atmosphere.

Pont Douilly

Bagnoles de l'Orne is just 20 mins away, best known for its health spa; it has a lake with pedalos and a casino. There is also a small golf course, swimming, tennis and shops.

Domfront is a medieval town with a picturesque hilltop old town and ruined castle offering splendid views - well worth a visit. Clecy is a real tourist attraction; it has an impressive model railway exhibition, interesting village centre, excellent riverside bars and restaurants, electric boats, mini golf, walks and rock climbing.

The Normandy D-Day beaches can be reached in an hour as can Bayeaux with its famous tapestry. Caen is the major city of the region.
